Face: Side View

The side view of the face is by far the simpliest.. but for some reason it seems to give quite a few people a hard time

half wa

Like the last one, this one starts wih a simple circle as well.

Next we're going to drap a line against the circle. This line should be sligtly angled. Think of this like as being stuck to the circle, When the circle rools up or down, the line stays with it and moves as well. This is how we can tilt the head up and down with the side view.

Now we'll mart where the chin ends. Keep in mind, when you're drawing the same chacter the proportions of the face should be consistant. This includes placement of the chin. We're also going to mark the edge of the jaw. This is where the ear will be placed. It should be just past the half way point of the head.

Now we're going to connect the two points with a curved line. This forms the jawbone. At this point we're also going to curve the back of the head into the jawbone. Note the skull like look of the shape. If you observe some people from the side you'll be able to plainly see this shape.

Not we'll add the center line. Again.. this could be added earlier if you have more expierence in drawing the head. I actually wait to put it in when drawing the side view. This is because my heads always look funny if I don't ^_^;;

Now we can add the protrustion of the nose and lips from this line. There is no real "trick" to adding these features. the only way to get drawing them down pat, is to practice ^_-

And lastly, we can add the eyes and the ears (and any other details!) Ta da!

On to the next Lesson!
